- High maintenance costs: the historic copper network is aging and therefore costly to maintain. It is more worthwhile to invest in a robust network such as fiber optics.

- European directive: the EU requires a minimum speed of 1 Gbps for both download and upload, which is not achievable with copper.
Once the copper network is switched off in your area, you will no longer be able to keep your telephone line via this network. You will need to migrate to fiber to keep your telephone line. All services linked to copper will be disconnected, and you will be required to switch to Proximus fiber or another network to keep these services and their benefits.
