Fiber in Wallonia with Unifiber!

Yes, your fiber connection is completely free for any activation of a Flex+ Mega, Giga, or Ultra Fiber pack if self-installation is not possible and the intervention of a Proximus technician is necessary, whether you are a Proximus customer or not. If you choose another fiber product, such as Internet Fiber alone, an additional charge may apply in case of a new installation. In cities where fiber is installed by our partners Fiberklaar, Unifiber, or Gofiber, the same conditions apply.

Fiber is the technology of the future, transmitting data over long distances at the speed of light. But to take full advantage of its potential, the fiber cable has to be laid right to the heart of your home. That's why it's called Fiber to the Home (FTTH).

Proximus is the only Belgian operator to deploy on a large scale fiber to the home, in partnership with Fiberklaar in Flanders, Unifiber in Wallonia, and GOfiber in the German-speaking part of the country.

Most other operators, such as VOO, Orange or Telenet, claim to offer fiber, but use a coaxial cable for the last leg from the street to the home. However, these two types of connection are absolutely not equivalent. Only Fiber to the Home guarantees the best performance in terms of download and upload speeds, stability and latency. And on top of that, your home is ready for the future!

While Proximus is gradually rolling out fiber to existing homes in Belgium, new housing estates and apartment blocks are usually immediately connected to our fiber network, in consultation with the construction industry.

The answer is no.

Currently, the standard for "ultra-fast" or "Gigabit" Internet service is up to 1 Gigabit per second (or Gbps) download, and up to 50 Megabits per second (or Mbps) upload. Most operators, such as VOO, Orange or Telenet, claim to offer fiber, but use a coaxial cable for the last section, from the street to the home. This is not a Fiber to the home connection.

Proximus installs fiber directly inside its customers' homes, and also in partnership with Fiberklaar in Flanders, Unifiber in Wallonia, and GoFiber in the German-speaking part of the country. The fact that the fiber cable is connected directly to your home means that you have your own cable, not shared with your neighbours. So you're totally independent of any external interference factors. And that makes all the difference, because you get an ultra-stable connection and the fastest Internet in the country, with download speeds of up to 8.5 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 8 Gbps. And that's just the beginning! By opting for this cutting-edge technology, you're ready for the future.

But what does this mean in practice? Imagine you want to download the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (30 GB): while a 1 Gbps connection allows you to download it in 4 minutes, an 8.5 Gbps connection allows you to do so in just 28.24 seconds. Can you tell the difference?

No, the fact that fiber has been installed in your street does not automatically mean that you benefit from it. To enjoy all its advantages, your home must be connected to the fiber network, which means a technician appointment is needed to install your fiber connection box, Internet Box(+), and activate your fiber connection.

If the network builder in your region is Fiberklaar, Unifiber, or GOfiber, two appointments will be necessary: the first to install your fiber connection box by one of these three builders, and the second to install your Internet Box(+) and activate your fiber connection.

• Flex+ Mega Fiber, ideal for homeworkers and streamers with download speeds of up to 500 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 500 Mbps: high-speed Internet to meet the needs of multiple users with equal download and upload speeds.
• Flex+ Giga Fiber, ideal for families with download speeds of up to 2 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 2 Gbps: giga-fast Internet to meet the needs of multiple simultaneous users.
• Flex+ Ultra Fiber, ideal for large families and gamers with download speeds of up to 8.5 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 8 Gbps: the fastest Internet available in Belgium both in download and in upload to meet the needs of the most demanding Internet users.

Please note that in certain specific cases, your building's wiring may only allow you to benefit from maximum speeds of 1 Gbps/500 Mbps. For further information, please contact your building manager or landlord.

Fiber is available in a number of major Belgian cities and is being rolled out or planned in others. By working hand in hand with the construction sector, most of the new housing estates and apartment buildings are already being connected to our fiber network.

So the first step is to check whether fiber is available at your address.

• In that case, you’ll be invited to discover our Fiber packs. Pick one of our existing packs or modify your pack according to your needs.

To achieve our ambitious fibre coverage goals, Proximus is building its own fibre network in large cities and has partnered with three fibre network builders for medium-sized towns: Fiberklaar in Flanders, Unifiber in Wallonia, and GOfiber in the German-speaking Community. We work in partnership with these three builders, who are responsible for bringing fibre to homes. Once this is completed, Proximus offers the same Fibre products and services (packs, etc.), regardless of the network.
