“A real tradition,” said Valérie De Bue, Walloon minister for Local Authorities, Housing and Sports Infrastructures. The Salon des Mandataires is in line with its time and present-day challenges by responding to the question: How can the interests of the general public be even better served? And that’s just what Proximus aims to do.
Once again, Proximus had no hesitation in agreeing to take part in the Salon des Mandataires. Its big stand was located just inside the entrance to the fair, devoid of products or advertising screens. The star was the DeLorean, the iconic car and time machine from the film trilogy ‘Back to the Future’. “Our stand perfectly reflects our strategy of listening and of advanced technology. So our Proximus ambassadors can demonstrate the driving force that we represent for a public sector moving towards smart cities,” explains Tamana Bostan, head of marketing for the public sector at Proximus.
Improved buildings and traffic management, computerized parking, mobile solutions available to the general public… there is no lack of examples. “Today, Proximus provides the know-how and above all the integration of solutions for more sustainable cities. The widespread use of fiber nationwide is well underway. My team and I are ambassadors at the service of smart cities. Each of them has its own priorities and is probably endeavoring to become a unique Smart City. But I believe the aim should be to achieve a ‘Smart Belgium’. And we are ready,” says an enthusiastic Alexander Bosmans, Head of Sales Public Sector.
Proximus also highlighted a partnership with the Liège start-up ‘Letsgocity’, demonstrating its new, innovative app for local services: Wallonie en poche (Wallonia in your pocket). “The solution centralizes all the local services in one app. You no longer have to look for the right app to consult the refuse collection schedule, train timetables or the latest local news. Everything happens thanks to geolocation,” explains Letsgocity founder Pierre Labalue. Even more impressively, on the basis of IoT sensors and the LoRa network, the app presented a plan of the fair and the visitor numbers in real time.
