Proximus introduces a technological first in Belgium with the arrival of tri-band Wi-Fi 7, now integrated into its new Internet Box+ and Wi-Fi Boosters+. The result: ultra-fast, ultra-stable, and ultra-secure connectivity, even for the most connected homes and businesses, and ready to support the evolution of all digital uses. Discover how this innovation is redefining the standards of premium Internet.
Wi-Fi 7 is the latest evolution of the Wi-Fi standard, designed to meet the needs of the most demanding homes and businesses. It surpasses Wi-Fi 6E thanks to two major innovations:
What makes the Proximus experience unique is our optimized ecosystem: the new-generation Internet Box+ and Wi-Fi Boosters+ are designed to fully leverage MLO technology.
Concretely? In a home or business where everyone is streaming, downloading files, gaming online, or working remotely, Wi-Fi 7 with the Proximus ecosystem ensures ultra-fast, ultra-stable, and ultra-secure connectivity—without slowdowns or interruptions, even with dozens of connected devices. But our next-generation ecosystem is not limited to highly connected environments: it prepares all users for the future, offering an evolutive solution able to support the growth of devices and digital uses in the years to come.
Some Wi-Fi 7 routers on the market operate on dual-band, meaning they use two frequency bands: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. This may be fine for basic use, but it quickly shows its limits in highly connected environments.
At Proximus, we go further: our Internet Box+ and next-gen Wi-Fi Boosters+ fully leverage tri-band by adding a third band (6 GHz). This setup enables smart traffic distribution, reduces interference, and guarantees faster, more stable, and smoother connectivity—even when multiple devices are used simultaneously.
By combining this tri-band architecture with MLO technology, our ecosystem (Internet Box+ and Wi-Fi Boosters+) delivers a complete Wi-Fi 7 experience, designed for today’s and tomorrow’s intensive usage.
Bonus: Eco-friendly design
The new-generation Internet Box+ and Wi-Fi Boosters+ are made from recycled materials and designed for easy refurbishment. The Internet Box+ is also fanless, which helps reduce energy consumption and ensures silent operation. This results in an overall carbon footprint reduction of at least 15% compared to the previous generation.
But the ecological commitment doesn’t stop there: the Internet Box+ also includes features designed to optimize energy consumption, such as the eco-mode (coming soon), which will reduce power usage during periods of low activity while maintaining top performance.
Thus, the Proximus ecosystem is part of a sustainable approach, both in terms of design and daily use, and is already preparing to welcome new features such as an eco mode for Wi-Fi usage, support for the Thread protocol for connected devices, and the evolution towards Wi-Fi 8.
At Proximus, innovation is not a race—it’s a commitment to quality. After being the first to launch Wi-Fi 6E in Belgium, we’re taking the next step with tri-band Wi-Fi 7. While other players have introduced dual-band versions, we’ve chosen maturity and excellence: our Internet Box+ and Wi-Fi Boosters+ fully leverage tri-band and MLO technology to deliver a complete, ultra-stable, and high-performance Wi-Fi 7 experience.
Wi-Fi is at the heart of our services, and we’ve always aimed to offer connectivity above market standards. Whether you’re a gamer, remote worker, or ultra-connected family, our tech approach guarantees an uncompromising internet experience.
Ultra Fiber customers will be the first to benefit from Wi-Fi 7—after our pilot phase in late November—with a progressive rollout starting in December. Wi-Fi 7 for Giga Fiber customers already equipped with an Internet Box+ will follow in the second half of 2026.
Wi-Fi 7 is not just a new standard—it’s a major technological leap that transforms the home Internet experience. At Proximus, we’ve chosen to launch it at the right time, with a complete and mature tri-band solution, integrated into an ecosystem built for performance, stability, and future evolution toward Wi-Fi 8. Because our priority isn’t to be first—it’s to offer you the best. With Proximus, step confidently into a new era of Wi-Fi: faster, more reliable, more secure, and ready for today’s and tomorrow’s demands.
