Communication platform speeds up health care provision at Covida

ICT support conduces to quality care

Covida originated from the merger of two Limburg day and residential centers for people with disabilities. The organization supports around 1,200 children, young people and adults in need, spread over 48 locations. Covida offers residential support, day support and individual counseling.

“Good ICT support is essential for Covida, as an element that conduces to the quality of the health care provided,” says Managing Director Ann Willen. Among other things, it supports the call systems that help the personnel do their job.

Various communication and care call systems

The merger that created Covida doubled the number of sites. “That was a huge challenge,” says network administrator Leander Sarrechia, “because we used very different communication and health care call systems on the various sites.” Proximus proposed switching to a new Forum (V) Connect telephone exchange. A new alarm server was added to ensure that all the different call systems now speak the same language.”

Answering every call, an essential dutyMaintain existing infrastructure

Internal personnel use wireless telephones. With this multi-cell DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telephone) solution, a reading is performed for each site to determine how many DECT antennas are required to ensure full coverage of the site. This means personnel can be contacted anywhere. Because one communication solution covers all sites, the main advantage is that staff can always be reached on each site via the same number and on their own internal DECT device. The existing DECT antennas could also continue to be used within the new set-up. An extra plus for the customer.

“We have been working with Proximus for more than twenty years,” says Jos Croimans, ICT team coordinator. “Proximus helps us to think of solutions and allows us to continue to expand and accelerate our health care provision.”
