How is fiber installed in your business?

The fiber installation in three steps

  1. Fiber is rolled out in your street

    After obtaining approval from the municipality, Proximus opens trenches in the streets to roll out the fiber network under the sidewalks or along the front side of houses. No action is required from you. You'll be informed by letter one to two weeks prior to the works.

    In some municipalities, these works are carried out by partners such as Fiberklaar or Unifiber.

    In the case of apartment buildings, we also check in with the building manager or the co-owners' association at this stage about fitting out the common areas (technical rooms, floors, etc.) with fiber.

Fiber is the technology of the future. The fiber cables transmit data over long distances at the speed of light and thus offer many advantages, including an ultra-fast and much more stable Internet connection than with traditional copper cables.

Proximus is therefore modernising its network by gradually replacing these copper cables by fiber cables. And unlike most other operators who stop at the street, Proximus is installing fiber right into your business, to ensure the best possible performance now and in the future. In the long term, our copper network will be completely replaced by this new technology.

Already a Proximus customer? Please note that your current copper cable will have to be replaced by fiber soon anyway in order to meet the ever-increasing need for connectivity and to guarantee you the best performance today and in the future.

Yes, your fiber connection is completely free for any activation of a Fiber pack, whether you’re a Proximus customer or not. If you choose a different fiber product, such as Internet Fiber only, €48.76 excl. VAT installation costs will be charged in case of new installation.

As a tenant, all you have to do is submit your request to Proximus. The landlord cannot oppose the choice of operator, nor the installation of fiber at the request of the tenant. We nevertheless advise you to inform the landlord.

In a building in co-ownership, all owners will normally have already been notified of the arrival of fiber in the building through the general assembly or by the syndic/building manager.

The installation takes between 2 and 4 hours, but don't worry, the connection will be actually disconnected for only a few minutes, so you’ll be able to continue your activities.

The appointments made are always confirmed by email and can be viewed or changed later via the personal link in the e-mail. You can only cancel an appointment by telephone on 0800 55 500.

Fiberklaar is the network builder that will install fiber in your office and offers you free installation. Proximus offers its products and services on the Fiberklaar network (fiber products) and will activate the products for free.
