B&B Hotels counts on its relationship with Proximus to grow

B&B Hotels counts on its relationship with Proximus to grow

Present in Belgium since 2018, the B&B Hotels group has seven hotels in Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Hasselt and Liège. Liège was the latest (inaugurated in April 2022), withthree hotels currently under construction in Namur, Mechelen and Diegem. The group plans to operate about 15 hotels in Belgium by 2025. What do all these hotels have in common? Dedicated fiber and the promise of sufficient bandwidth and connectivity at no extra charge to customers.

A trusted partner

To keep this promise, and to support an expansion on this scale, B&B Hotels obviously needed a trusted telecoms partner. It chose Proximus for fixed and mobile telephony, fiber, IPTV, network security (Fortigate Firewall) and project management. This single point of contact allows smooth and efficient communication and acts as a relay center in case of problems during installations.

"This is invaluable. As a hotel manager, I once experienced a complete outage on a Friday at 17:12. A disaster scenario at a time when customers are arriving for the weekend. Nothing was working anymore. The customers were frustrated and the teams stressed. We have an excellent relationship with Proximus. We know who to contact. If there's an outage one day, it'll be handled quickly. We know that for sure", Grégory affirmed, who hasn't experienced any since his arrival.

Connectivity anywhere, anytime

Connectivity on every floor and in every room is a must for the group. "For our business customers, families, tourists, etc. Everyone needs it now that smartphones have become the essential tool to book a restaurant, watch a movie, etc." B&B hotels offer high bandwidth, thus allowing guests to work and upload and download material. Grégory is also interested in the operator's investments in the 5G network. "Our French customers are sometimes surprised because it's already available in France and everything responds much faster. We'll be thrilled when the experience is standardized", he says.

Transparent communication

When there is a delay in the implementation of the solution, as was the case at the Hasselt site, Proximus handles this perfectly. "There were no problems. Thanks to transparent communication, we were able to adapt and everything was resolved smoothly, thus guaranteeing the delivery of services on time, as well as the proper functioning of the equipment. We are therefore reassured about future projects", Grégory concluded.

After starting at the bottom of the ladder at the Hôtel Métropole after studying hotel management, Grégory Marchand moved to the Accor group. He spent most of his career in Brussels and Mechelen, moving from operations to strategy, before becoming director of the 4-star Pullman hotel. The pandemic gave him the desire for a new challenge, which he has been working on for the past few months within the B&B group.
