Advantages of the social rate

Advantages granted

50% discount on the installation charge of 1 landline (phone or Internet).

Exceptions:

  • Beneficiaries of a minimum integration income are not entitled to this discount.
  • 1 discount per customer and per operator.

40% discount on your subscription fee of 1 Internet subscription, landline or mobile phone subscription with a maximum of €8.40/month (incl. VAT).

Exceptions:

  • Beneficiaries of a minimum income can only receive a discount on their internet subscription.
  • 1 discount per customer and per operator.

€3.10/month (incl. VAT) discount on your calls outside the bundle:

from your landline on national calls (fixed and mobile) and international calls (fixed numbers) OR from your mobile phone on national calls.

Exceptions:

  • Pay&Go customers receive €3.10 call credit/month instead of a discount.
  • 1 discount per customer and per operator.

Attribution conditions

To benefit from the social rate option, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You are a Proximus customer or Pay&Go customer or wish to subscribe to one of our price plans with invoice or payment statement
  • Neither you nor the person with whom you live already benefits from social rates from another fixed or mobile telephony operator
  • There may be only one beneficiary per household
  • One discount on a subscription and one discount on calling fees per customer
  • You are eligible for the social rate
  • Mobile phone subscription: the social rate option is valid for all residential subscribers that meet the required conditions, except Mobile 5 subscriptions. It is available to any type of usage but it's not compatible with business price plans
  • Reload card: the social rate prepaid option can be activated on prepaid cards and is not compatible with the social rate for mobile phone subscriptions
  • Landline, Internet or TV: you must be the holder of the line
  • Beneficiaries of a minimum income: the advantage is valid for a period of 6 months. The application must be renewed every 6 months
  • Proximus must be kept informed of any change of situation that may impact someone's qualification of the attribution conditions

Who can benefit from this social advantage?

The social rate is a reduced rate granted on social or humanitarian grounds. Are you entitled to this social advantage? If so, please submit an application.

For beneficiaries of a minimum integration income

The beneficiary must be officially recognised as a beneficiary of a minimum integration income (minimex). The advantage is attributed for a period of 6 months. After that, the beneficiary can request a prolongation.


For people above 65

The beneficiary of the social rate option must have reached 65 years of age. The person may live:

  • alone
  • with 1 or more people over 60 years old
  • with 1 or more children
  • with 1 or more of their children (or grandchildren) if these are handicapped to at least a 66% degree, with no age limits
  • with 1 or more grandchildren if these are orphaned of father and mother or have been given to the grandparent by the judicial courts
  • in a convalescent home or other form of community life

The beneficiary must have a subscription in his/her own name and for his/her exclusive use.

Your annual income, combined with that of the persons living with you, may not exceed the sum of €23.630,87, increased by €4.383,93 per person living with you. This amount is in accordance with the indexation of 01/08/2022. For handicapped people

The beneficiary of the social rate option must be handicapped to at least a 66% degree and be at least 18 years old. The person may live:

  • alone
  • with up to 2 people who are unrelated to them
  • with 1st degree (spouse, father, mother, parents-in-law or children-in-law) or 2nd degree (brothers, sisters, half-brothers, half-sisters, grandparents or grandchildren) relatives by blood or marriage
  • in a convalescent home or other form of community life

The beneficiary must have a subscription in his/her own name and for his/her exclusive use.

For certain hard-of-hearing individuals and people who have had a laryngectomy

The applicant must have:

  • either a hearing loss of minimum 70 dB for the better ear, according to the International Bureau for Audiophonology (BIAP)
  • or have had a laryngectomy

The parents or grandparents, who are beneficiaries of a telephone subscription, may benefit from the social rate if their child or grandchild, living with them, meets one of this handicap conditions.


For blind war veterans

The applicant must be officially recognised as a blind war veteran.

How can you submit an application?

If you believe that you are entitled to this social advantage, we invite you to contact our Customer Service.

Your request will then be registered and submitted to the BIPT (Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunications) for approval.

The social rate option will come into effect in the month following its activation. If your application is approved, you will be sent a confirmation letter. If your application is rejected, the BIPT will notify you of its decision.
