The award for ‘Best Project of the Year in the Health Market’ recognizes initiatives that use digital technology in innovative ways to improve the healthcare sector. The 2025 award was given to a project based on 5G and AI: the result of a close collaboration between Proximus NXT, UZ Antwerp, UZ Brussels, VIVES and AWLabs.

Examples include the use of smart glasses in ambulances to provide live support from remote medical experts, as well as wearables and home monitoring devices which enable patients to be closely monitored remotely. Applications such as speech-to-text transcription, intelligent alarm management, cyber-secure data exchange and indoor positioning also contribute to more efficient and patient-centred care.

New milestone for digital healthcare

“The project shows how technology can really make a difference in healthcare,” says Jurgen De Klerck, 5G Business Development Manager at Proximus NXT. “We are proud of the collaboration with UZ Antwerpen and UZ Brussel and are grateful for the commitment of our teams. Together, we are bringing innovation to life where it really matters.”

The award highlights the importance of strong partnerships between healthcare institutions, education and technology. For Proximus NXT, this recognition marks a new step in its quest for digital solutions that generate social impact.
