How to deactivate Wi-Fi?

The Wi-Fi network is activated per default on all modems , Wi-Fi Extenders and Wi-Fi Boosters. If you don't want to surf wirelessly, don't hesitate to disable the Wi-Fi network: you can always re-enable it again later.

The Wi-Fi network is activated per default on a b-box 3. Turn off your Wi-Fi network and turn it back on by keeping the on-off button >On-off button next to the Wi-Fi indicator next to the Wi-Fi LED pressed for 3 seconds.

If you look at the front of your b-box 3 modem, you will see that the Wi-Fi LED indicator has gone out. This confirms that the Wi-Fi network is now disabled.

  1. Surf to your modem's configuration menu at http://192.168.1.1 with a recent Internet browser.
  2. Enter the user name and password of your modem then click the Login button.
For the user name, select User in the Username dropdown menu.
For the password, type the one that you will find on a sticker on the back of the modem, next to the word User Password or Modem password.

  7. You can:
    • Press to suspend wi-fi for 24 hours. Reactivate wi-fi by pressing the pad .

Possible problems

  • Wi-Fi is not disabled: If you are using a Wi-Fi Extender or certain PLCs purchased outside Proximus, the wi-fi emitted by these devices will not be disabled, unless you unplug them of course.
  • Can't re-enable the wifi:
    1. Turn Wi-Fi off and on again on your smartphone, tablet or computer.
    2. Not enough? Reboot your b-box modem. To do this, press the button on the back of the modem; to switch it off, wait about ten seconds and then switch it on again. The connection will be restored after a few minutes.
