The new smart Wi-Fi from Proximus

We have just launched a new intelligent wi-fi, it manages the two Wi-Fi frequency bands according to the connected devices.

What does this mean for me? In practical terms, you only see one network name appear, the one related to the 2.4 GHz frequency band.

The 5Ghz frequency disappears? No, don't worry, the 5Ghz frequency band still exists but it is your modem that decides for you on which frequency to connect each device. We have kept the name linked to the 2.4Ghz frequency band because most devices (old PCs, smartphones and tablets; printers; cameras; thermostats...) are connected to it.

When will my wi-fi become smart? Activation will be done gradually, if you have only devices connected to 2.4 GHz wi-fi, the activation of intelligent wi-fi will be done automatically. If you have devices connected to both frequency bands, you will soon receive a letter explaining the steps to follow to fully enjoy the new wi-fi experience.

I changed the name of my wi-fi network? If you have customized your wi-fi name, the name related to the 2.4 Ghz frequency will be used.

Do I need to reconnect the devices to Wi-Fi? You will only need to reconnect newer devices if they have never been connected on the 2.4 Ghz frequency.

A device without wifi?

Have you switched to Smart Wi-Fi and a device is no longer connected to Wi-Fi? Don't panic. Reconnect the device to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network of the b-box. Enter the password of the Wi-Fi network. It is also on the back of your modem , next to the words  WiFi KeyWireless key or Passphrase (or in the MyProximus app of your MyProximus administrator). 

Do you have a Wi-Fi Booster or Wi-Fi Bridge and the Link Quality LED is off? Then sync the Wi-Fi Booster or Wi-Fi Bridge again with your b-box.
