Frequently asked questions

Wi-Fi 7 is the latest evolution of the Wi-Fi standard, designed for ultra-connected businesses. It goes beyond Wi-Fi 6E by introducing two major innovations that radically improve the quality of your connection:

  • Multi-Link Operation (MLO): This technology allows your devices to simultaneously connect to the three available frequency bands (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz). It's like your device taking multiple routes in parallel to avoid congestion and ensure a smoother, faster, and more stable connection.
  • Expanded bandwidth to 320 MHz: Imagine a highway twice as wide as previous generations. This allows much more data to flow at once, making video calls and streaming smoother, even when multiple people are connected at the same time. It also enables wireless connection of various devices, such as surveillance cameras, printers, and payment terminals, so they can communicate with each other and with the network.

But what makes the Proximus experience unique is our optimized ecosystem: the Internet Box+ and the new generation Wi-Fi Booster+ are designed to fully leverage MLO technology. Even if not all client devices are compatible yet, our infrastructure uses it to connect the Boosters to the Box via multiple bands simultaneously. This strengthens network stability throughout the business, reduces interference, and ensures consistent performance, even in hard-to-cover areas.

Some Wi-Fi 7 routers available on the market operate in dual-band, meaning on two frequency bands: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. This may be suitable for regular use but quickly shows its limitations in highly connected businesses.

At Proximus, we go further: our Internet Box+ and new generation Wi-Fi Boosters+ fully exploit tri-band by adding a third band (6 GHz). This configuration allows intelligent traffic distribution, reduces interference, and ensures a faster, more stable, and smoother connection, even when multiple devices are used simultaneously.

By combining this tri-band architecture with MLO technology, our ecosystem (Internet Box+ and Wi-Fi Booster+) offers a complete Wi-Fi 7 experience, designed for the intensive uses of today and tomorrow.

Lightning-fast speeds: up to 2x faster than Wi-Fi 6

A smooth and ultra-stable connection: thanks to multi-band technology (MLO) and extended bandwidth, Wi-Fi 7 reduces latency and ensures perfect stability, even with multiple connected devices.

Optimal security: your network remains protected thanks to WPA3-Personal-Transition encryption, compatible with both new and old devices.

Simplified installation thanks to a built-in screen: the screen guides you step by step for a quick start-up, without an app or complicated manual a market exclusivity.

Bonus: an environmentally friendly design
Made from recycled materials, without a fan, and designed to be easily reconditioned.

At Proximus, innovation is not a race, but a commitment to quality. After being the first to launch Wi-Fi 6E in Belgium, we are taking a new step with tri-band Wi-Fi 7. While other players have already introduced this technology in dual-band version, we have chosen maturity and excellence: our Internet Box+ and Wi-Fi Boosters+ fully utilize tri-band and MLO technology, to offer a complete, ultra-stable, and ultra-performing Wi-Fi 7 experience.

Wi-Fi is at the heart of our services, and we have always ensured to offer connectivity superior to the market average. Our technological approach guarantees you an uncompromising internet experience.

Towards a gradual deployment
Ultra Fiber customers will be the first to benefit from Wi-Fi 7, with a gradual deployment starting from late November 2025. The commercialization of Wi-Fi 7 for Giga Fiber customers, already equipped with an Internet Box+, will follow from the second half of 2026.

  • New customers: by ordering a new Business Flex+ Ultra Fiber pack, customers will directly receive the Internet Box+ integrating Wi-Fi 7.
  • Existing Business Ultra Fiber customers: Ultra Fiber customers already equipped with an Internet Box+ with Wi-Fi 6E can proactively request an exchange to receive the new Internet Box+ integrating Wi-Fi 7 from early 2026.

To fully benefit from Wi-Fi 7, you need to use devices compatible with this new standard (also known as IEEE 802.11be).

In 2025, the list is rapidly expanding:

  • Smartphones: recent models like Samsung Galaxy S23/S24/S25, Google Pixel 8/9, iPhone 16/17, Xiaomi 14, Honor Magic 6 Pro, OnePlus 12, etc.
  • Laptops: some laptops equipped with Intel BE200 Wi-Fi cards or equivalent, like the Razer Blade 16.
  • Connected objects: compatibility is gradually arriving on high-end connected objects.

To check compatibility, consult your device's technical specifications or look for the mention “Wi-Fi 7” or “802.11be” in the network settings.

The installation of the Internet Box+ with Wi-Fi 7 is designed to be simple and quick:

  1. Plug in the Internet Box+ and wait for the lights to turn on.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions (new Wi-Fi 7 feature) for step-by-step configuration.
  3. Connect your devices: select the Wi-Fi network name displayed on the Box screen, then enter the provided password (via SMS or on the screen).
  4. Access your settings via the web interface or the MyProximus app to customize your network if needed.

If a device fails to connect to Wi-Fi 7:

  • Check the device's compatibility with Wi-Fi 7. Older devices can connect via the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz bands, but not always to the 6 GHz band.
  • Activate the “Wi-Fi compatible” mode on the Internet Box+ (often accessible via the screen or web/app interface) to allow older devices to connect.
  • Restart the device and the Internet Box.
  • Verify the password and the selection of the correct network.

If the problem persists, consult Proximus support.

Yes, all your existing devices will continue to work even if you have a new Internet with Wi-Fi 6. However, to fully benefit from the Wi-Fi 6 advantages, your device must support Wi-Fi 6.

Many Wi-Fi6 ready devices are already on the the market. To check if a device support Wi-Fi6, look in the product specifications for Wi-fi6 or ‘AX’.

Smart Wi-Fi monitors your Wi-Fi experience remotely and suggests by means of the Proximus+app pro-active actions to improve your Wi-Fi experience, for example by providing tools to optimise Wi-Fi Boosters placement or by suggesting to add supplementary Wi-Fi boosters for a better coverage.

In addition, Smart Wi-Fi manages all your connections and automatically adapts to provide you with the best Wi-Fi coverage at the office:

  • for optimal speed, without interruptions, when surfing on different devices
  • for a stable connection even when you move from room to room

This is possible thanks to a smart usage of both available Wi-Fi frequency ranges (2.4 GHZ and 5 GHZ) in function of your device capabilities, the bandwidth needs of the device and the usage of other devices.

And thanks to a seamless connection between your b-box/Internet Box and your Wi-Fi boosters.

All new Proximus customers benefit from this “Smart-Wi-Fi” service without the need to “activate” anything manually.

Existing customers can easily activate Smart Wi-Fi through the Proximus+ app without any cost.

Thanks to the Mesh technology, Wi-Fi boosters communicate with each other and give your whole office seamless Wi-Fi coverage, without loss of speed.

In function of usage of the network (number of devices, bandwidth need, etc.), in a mesh network, the way the different access points interoperate changes dynamically to always guarantee the best usage experience as possible.

Wi-Fi Mesh is only supported by our new Internet Box and Wi-Fi boosters.
