During the yearly Think NXT event, Kanaal Z interviews Catherine De Saedeleer, Smart Networks Solution Lead at Proximus NXT, on Proximus’ pioneering role in quantum-proof network security.
Catherine explains how the principles of quantum communication can be used to secure confidential data. This technology makes it nearly impossible for unauthorized individuals to intercept messages. In the event of a hacking attempt, data is immediately altered, and both sender and receiver are notified.
The advent of quantum computers poses a risk because they will be able to crack security codes much faster. Therefore, it is important to invest in quantum communication now to prevent future security issues.
Proximus is a pioneer in applying this technology and recently conducted a test encrypting a data stream between Brussels and Mechelen. They work closely with actors from the banking sector, healthcare, and government institutions to test and develop the technology in real-world conditions. The goal is to assist companies securing data in a quantum-safe way.
