Secure your mailbox

To protect your mailbox and send e-mails, you need to activate mailbox authentication. How do I do this?

What software do you use to check your e-mails?

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Go in File, in the top left-hand menu.
  3. Choose your account.
  4. Click Server settings.
  5. Go to Outgoing mail and set it as follows:
    • Server: relay.proximus.be
    • Port : 587
    • Encrypton method : STARTTLS
    • Uncheck "Require logon using Secure Password Auhentification SPA"
    • Check "My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication", then "Use the same settings as my incoming mail server".
  6. Click on Next, then Complete.

Important: Do this for each device you use to check your mailbox (computer, smartphone, tablet, etc.).

And that's it, your mailbox is protected and you can send e-mails without any problem.

  1. Open Apple Mail.
  2. Click on Mail, then on Preferences.
  3. Click on Accounts > Server settings > Outgoing mail account > Modify the list of SMTP servers.
