Access your company mail server with the TouchDown application

Do you surf the Net on an Android device? Connect to your company mail server using the TouchDown application of Nitrodesk. Find all your e-mails, contacts, tasks and Outlook calendar on your mobile phone, netbook or tablet PC.

NB: the TouchDown application is not in any way linked to Proximus. Proximus SA therefore declines all liability for it. First download the trial version.

Download the TouchDown application from Play Store

First of all, download TouchDown and install it on your tablet PC or mobile phone.

  • If you have a mobile phone, view all the screens, step by step, in the installation demo.
  • If you have a tablet PC (e.g. Samsung Galaxy Tab), follow the instructions below:
    1. Click "home" to go to the homescreen, then click Apps and Play Store.
    2. Image - Logo AndroidConnect to Android Market. There are two possibilities:
      • If you have already visited Play Store, go to step 3.
      • If this is the first time you visit Play Store, register with the help of your Google account. If you don't have a Google account yet, you can create one when registering for Play Store; you are not required to have a Gmail address for that.
    3. Image - Logo TouchDownOnce you have connected to Android Market you will see a list of all the available applications. For a faster result, search for NITRODESK.
    4. Select "TouchDown for Tablets" and click "Download".
    5. When the download is complete, a screen will appear listing the TouchDown authorizations (access to the Internet, to your contacts, etc.). Click "OK".
    6. When the installation is complete, a notification will appear in the status bar. Click "Home" to return to the homescreen.
    7. You will now see a new TouchDown icon on your homescreen. Click it.
    8. You can read the end-user license contract of TouchDown. Click "accept" to conclude the installation.

Connect your device to your Exchange server

You can now configure the TouchDown application so that it can access your mail server. If you need certain technical information (e.g. the name of your Exchange server), contact your company's IT department.

  • If you have a mobile phone, view all the screens, step by step, in the installation demo.
  • If you have a tablet PC (e.g. Samsung Galaxay Tab), follow the instructions below:
    1. In the TouchDown application, click "Settings".
    2. Click "No" for a quick configuration.
    3. You will see 3 tabs: Account, Connection and Advanced. You need the first two.

      • Connection Mode: select the type of connection in the drop-down menu, e.g. "ActiveSync ONLY".
      • Login ID: enter the identifier that enables you to connect to your email address, e.g. "userid123456".
        If your identifier is an e-mail address (useride123456@blabla.com), checkmark the box "This is my email address".
      • Email address: enter your e-mail address, e.g. "userid123456@blabla.com".
      • Password: enter the password that enables you to access your e-mail address.
      • Folder language: choose the language you wish to use for the folders.

      • Server name: enter the name of your company's Exchange server.
      • Checkmark the "Uses SSL" box (SSL is a security protocol).

      Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

Synchronizing your e-mails, tasks, etc. for the first time

  1. Click "Home" to return to the homescreen.
  2. Click "Apps" and then "TouchDown": the synchronization will start immediately.
