Block calls, text messages or surfing on your mobile phone

You can block calls, text messages and surfing on your mobile. Depending on the desired barring, this can be done free of charge or against payment.

Pay-for barrings to block calls and text messages

Contact our customer service to activate pay-for barrings. After activation, you can use short codes to block your calls and text messages. For this, you need a secret code. By default your secret code is 0000, but we advise you to change it as asoon as possible so that you are the only person who can block and unblock your calls.

Changing your secret code

Type **03*330* Old code * New code * New code # on your mobile phone and press the call key. Instead of  Old code, enter your current secret code and instead of New code, enter a new 4-digit code of your choice. You will receive a confirmation 'Password change: Registration was successful.'

Block calls and texts to all numbers

If you activate this barring, you can no longer call or text Belgian or international numbers.

  • Activate: type *33* Secret code# and press the call key.
  • Deactivate: type #33* Secret code# and press the call key.
  • Check whether the block has been (de)activated: type *#33* Secret code# and press the call key. You will receive a message 'Call barring: Service has been enabled' when active, 'Call barring: Service has been disabled' when inactive.
Block calls and texts from all numbers

If you activate this barring, you can no longer receive any calls and text messages.

  • Activate: type *35* Secret code # and press the call key.
  • Deactivate: type #35* Secret code # and press the call key.
  • Check whether the block has been (de)activated: type *#35* Secret code # and press the call key. You will receive a message 'Call barring: Service has been enabled' when active, 'Call barring: Service has been disabled' when inactive.
Block calls and texts to numbers outside the EU

If you activate this barring, you can no longer call or send texts to numbers outside the EU.

  • Activate: type *331* Secret code # and press the call key.
  • Deactivate: type #331* Secret code # and press the call key.
  • Check whether the block has been (de)activated: type *#331* Secret code # and press the call key. You will receive a message 'Call barring: Service has been enabled' when active, 'Call barring: Service has been disabled' when inactive.
Block calls and texts from numbers outside the EU

If you activate this barring, you can no longer receive calls and texts from outside the EU.

  • Activate: type *351* Secret code # and press the call key.
  • Deactivate: type #351* Secret code # and press the call key.
  • Check whether the block has been (de)activated: type *#351* Secret code # and press the call key. You will receive a message 'Call barring: Service has been enabled' when active, 'Call barring: Service has been disabled' when inactive.

Free barrings to block calls, text messages and surfing

Free barrings can be activated through MyProximus, except for Pay&Go. Additional barrings that can be activated:

If you activate this barring, you can no longer send text messages. You can activate this barring in MyProximus:

To activate this barring in the MyProximus app, follow these steps:

  1. Open the MyProximus app. You don't have the app yet? Download the MyProximus app.
  2. Tap on the tab Products.
  3. Tap on your mobile number.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap Barring.
  6. Tap Sending text messages.
  7. Connect to MyProximus again to activate this barring. It can take up to 4 hours to activate.
Via the website

The steps you need to follow are different if you have a bill or payment statement with or without a bank transfer form.

  3. Scroll down to the Settings box.
  4. Click on the slider next to Sending text messages to activate the barring.

Block surfing and sending MMS abroad

If you activate this barring, you can no longer surf or send MMS abroad, regardless of which country you are in (inside or outside the EU). You can activate this barring in MyProximus:

  1. Open the MyProximus app. You don't have the app yet? Download the MyProximus app.
  2. Tap on the tab Products.
  3. Tap on your mobile number.
  4. Tap Settings.

  6. Tap Surfing abroad.
  7. Connect to MyProximus again to activate this barring. It can take up to 4 hours to activate.
Via the website

The steps you need to follow are different if you have a bill or payment statement with or without a bank transfer form.

Unfortunately, you cannot activate this option yet via the MyProximus website.

What is the difference with 'Surfing limit abroad'?

With block surfing and sending MMS abroad you do not allow yourself to surf abroad. The surfing limit abroad allows you to surf, but we intervene from a certain amount: until the end of the month you can no longer surf abroad. This is to avoid high bills. Block calls abroad

If you activate this barring, you can no longer call or send text messages from Belgium to abroad, regardless of the country you are calling or texting (inside or outside the EU). When abroad, you can only call the country you are in and cannot send text messages. You can activate this barring in MyProximus.

To activate this barring in the MyProximus app, follow these steps:

  1. Open the MyProximus app.
  2. Tap on the tab Products.
  3. Tap on your mobile number.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap Barring.
  6. Tap International outgoing calls.
  7. Connect to MyProximus again to activate this barring. It can take up to 4 hours to activate.
Via the website

The steps you need to follow are different if you have a bill or payment statement with or without a bank transfer form.
