Text alerts about your usage

We notify you by SMS if you have spent a certain amount on calls, texts or mobile data with your mobile, tablet or laptop. This enables you to adjust your mobile usage, in Belgium or abroad, for the remainder of the billing period.

If you exceed a certain amount, we will automatically limit your possibility of surfing via 3G/4G. This way you avoid high bills or charges.

When and how do you receive a notification?

You receive a text message:

  • when you have used up part or all of your bundle for calling, texting or surfing.
  • when you have used up € 10 and then € 50 on top of your bundle.

The text messages are sent to the number concerned with a maximum delay of 11 hours and not between midnight and 7 a.m.
If you surf the Net on a tablet, laptop (or Apple device), the notifications will appear on your screen.
You can keep an eye on your usage at all times via the MyProximus app.

Would you rather not be sent SMS notifications? Or would you prefer to be sent them when you reach a different limit? Adjust this:

  1. Log in to MyProximus to adapt your alerts.

  2. Scroll down.
  3. Adjust at which limits you would like an SMS notification. If you don't want to receive any notifications anymore, select Change status.
  4. Click on Configure and Confirm.
Do you also have Internet, TV or a fixed line?
  1. Log in to MyProximus to adapt your alerts.

  2. Select your mobile number.
  3. Click open the My call credits section and then click on Control my call credit.
  4. Adjust at which limits within your bundle you would like an SMS notification and click on Continue.
  5. Click the section Control additional costs.
  6. Adjust at which out-of-bundle limits you would like an SMS notification and click on Continue.

You can block pay-for numbers or limit calls and texts for yourself or for another number you manage.

How do we limit your mobile data expenses?

To avoid high charges for mobile Internet usage, we block or limit your possibility of surfing via 3G/4G.
How this is done depends on your location and your subscription.

You are within the EU:
Do you only have a mobile number or several mobile numbers?

If you surf without a data bundle, your 3G/4G connection will be cut when you have used up €60 (incl. VAT) on data.

  • You will receive an alert by SMS just before and when you reach this data usage limit.
  • You will be able to surf via 3G/4G again as from the start of the next billing period. Contact our Customer Service if you want use mobile Internet again sooner than that.

If you surf with a data bundle, your surfing speed will be limited to 128 Kbps if you have used up your bundle completely.

  • You will receive an alert by SMS just before and when your bundle has been used up completely.
  • You will be able to surf via 3G/4G at normal speed again as from the start of the next billing period. If you want to surf faster again sooner than that, you can purchase an additional data bundle.
Do you also have Internet, TV or a fixed line?

Your 3G/4G connection will be cut when you have used up €60 (incl. VAT) on data on top of your normal subscription or bundle.

  • You will receive an alert by SMS just before and when you reach this data usage limit.
  • You will be able to surf via 3G/4G again as from the start of the next billing period.
  • If you want to continue to surf before that, deactivate the data limit and continue to surf at cost price:
    1. Log in to MyProximus to deactivate the data limit.
      Deactivate your data limit
    2. Select your mobile subscription.
    3. Choose Options > Data limit abroad > No data limit abroad.
    4. Deactivate your data limit. Be careful, after this you will have no data limit anymore.
You are outside the EU:

Your Internet connection will be cut as soon as you have used up €60 (incl. VAT) on data or, if you have a subscription to surf more cheaply, when you have used up €60 (incl. VAT) on top of your bundle.

  • You will receive an alert by SMS just before and when you reach this data usage limit.
  • You will no longer be able to surf the Net via 3G/4G until the next billing period (you don't have to do anything – you will receive a text message as soon as you can surf abroad again).
  • If you want to continue to surf before that, deactivate the data limit and continue to surf at cost price:
    1. Log in to MyProximus to deactivate the data limit.
      Deactivate your data limit
    2. Select your mobile subscription.
    3. Choose Options > Data limit abroad > No data limit abroad.
    4. Deactivate your data limit. Be careful, after this you will have no data limit anymore.
The data limitation applies only to 3G/4G.
 

When we limit your data usage, this applies only to surfing via 3G/4G.
You will always be able to continue to surf via Wi-Fi or via a Wi-Fi Hotspot. even abroad.
