Change your mobile phone settings for abroad

Normally your mobile will automatically connect to another available operator as soon as you are abroad. Has this not happened, or do you prefer another foreign network? Then change the network settings of your device manually.

  • Select your mobile phone or tablet and follow the instructions for Usage across the border.
  • Check if roaming is activated.
    • On iOS : Settings > Mobile network > Data options > Turn on dataroaming.
    • On Android : Settings > Mobile networks > Turn data roaming on.
  • Reboot your device.
Please note that no networks are available in some remote areas (desert, mountains, etc.).
Call barring active abroad?

Are you unable to call, text or surf when abroad? Only the administrator of your subscription or your employer can contact our customer service to enable roaming.

Check whether your mobile is adapted to the local network

Other network frequencies are used in some parts of the world: 900 and 1800 MHz in Europe, 1900 MHz in North America and 850 MHz in South America and Asia. Almost all models these days are “multi-band” and switch from one frequency to another without you even noticing. But if you have an old phone, you may not be able to use it in some countries and regions. You can check the available frequencies of your phone in our mobile phone catalogue or on the manufacturer’s website.
