- WPA3-Personal-Transition is a Wi-Fi security mode that allows a network to operate with two levels of security at the same time: the old (WPA2) and the new (WPA3). This means that new devices, which can use the more secure WPA3 protocol, will do so. And older devices, which can only use WPA2, will still be able to connect. Basically, this helps networks to gradually switch to WPA3 without disconnecting older devices.
- Proximus no longer supports WEP and WPA.
- PMF (Protected Management Frames) is an additional security feature for Wi-Fi networks. It encrypts management frames, protecting against disconnection attacks and identity theft attempts. In short, PMF enhances the overall security of your Wi-Fi connection.
Follow our tips
You notice that some devices can no longer connect to Wi-Fi: computers, phones, printers, IP cameras, thermostats, solar panels, alarms, etc.
First, perform the usual checks
- Check that the Internet Box is switched on and that the and LEDs are blue and stay lit. If this is not the case, check your line .
- Make sure there is sufficient Wi-Fi coverage at the place you set up the device that is no longer connecting.
- Check that you are trying to connect your device to your own Wi-Fi network and that you are using the correct password. You can find the name and password of your Wi-Fi network at www.proximus.be/myinternet. Particularly mind the upper and lower case letters and special characters.
- Reboot the device that no longer connects to Wi-Fi.
You performed all these checks and your device still won't connect? In this case, follow our tips below.
Why won't your device connect?
Your device was unable to connect to the Proximus Wi-Fi (Internet Box, Wi-Fi Booster) because it does not support the new Wi-Fi security standards (PMF, WPA3, WPA3-Personal-Transition). These new standards improve the security of your Wi-Fi network.
How to connect your device?
You'll need to activate the limited Wi-Fi network, then connect your devices that can't connect to the main Wi-Fi network.
