Within the EU

There are no roaming charges when travelling inside countries that are part of the European Union. This means you can use your mobile plan with the same conditions as in Belgium!

This includes Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland, as well as Andorra, Gibraltar, Monaco, and the United Kingdom. There are no roaming charges there either.

Outside the EU

No more complex roaming options or activations outside the EU.

  • Pay only when there is usage
  • Same conditions as in Belgium for 24h

A Daily Roaming Pass of €4.92 or €9.88 will automatically be activated for a 24-hour period when you:

  • call or text (SMS/MMS) to Belgium or the visited country
  • receive a call from any country
  • surf in the visited country

This will allow you to use the data, minutes and texts of your Belgian subscription in the visited country for a period of 24 hours.

While you are in the visited country, the Daily Roaming Pass does not include:

  • Calls made to other countries than Belgium or the visited country
  • Text messages sent to other countries than Belgium or the visited country

For some countries we cannot ensure cheaper options. There, the regular roaming tariffs still apply.

For customers with a mobile subscription, the Daily Roaming Pass is automatically activated for a 24-hour period as soon as they:

  • consume mobile data in the visited country
  • make a call to Belgium or to the visited country
  • receive a call (regardless of the calling country)
  • exceed the free limit of 2 SMSes sent, or 2 MMSes sent or received per 24-hour period:
    • 2 SMSes sent to Belgium or the visited country
    • 2 MMSes sent to Belgium or the visited country or received in the visited country
    • The reception of an SMS, regardless of its origin, is always free of charge and does not activate the Daily Roaming Pass

An SMS is sent each time the Daily Roaming Pass is activated. Moreover, you can see the number of Daily Roaming Passes used in your MyProximus application.

The Daily Roaming Pass is also valid for Full Control plans as long as there is enough credit: add credit on proximus.be/reload

For customers with a prepaid card, nothing changes compared to today. They cannot benefit from the Daily Roaming Pass and will therefore be charged for their consumption according to the rates applied by Proximus in the visited country.

It is not possible to deactivate the Daily Roaming Pass, but nothing changes for a customer who does not want to have additional roaming costs. All they have to do, like they do now, is to cut off their mobile data usage and make sure that they do not make or receive any calls (by activating the airplane mode, for example) and that they do not exceed the free limit of 2 SMSes sent and 2 MMS sent to and received from Belgium or the visited country per 24-hour period.

Let's take the case of a Proximus customer travelling to Canada, his Daily Roaming Pass is active. He decides to call an Italian friend. In this case, the rate for a Canada - Italy call applies. All rates are available when you enter your destination country at the top of this page.

No problem, we take into account the usage in each zone. As soon as the total amount of €49.20 in Zone A or €98.80 in Zone B is reached, you no longer have to pay the Daily Roaming Pass and benefit from free mobile sessions within the limits of your Belgian subscription until the end of the calendar month.
Let's imagine a customer who uses his smartphone for 5 days in Zone B and then continues his journey in a Zone A country. He has already been charged 5 x €9.88 = €49.40 in Zone B. He will no longer have to pay for the next Daily Roaming Pass in Zone A and will therefore no longer be charged for the use of his smartphone (within the limits of his Belgian subscription) in Zone A until the end of the calendar month.

If you go from Zone A to Zone B, the amount already paid for in Zone A is taken into account. When using the mobile subscription in Zone B, an additional amount of €4.96 excl. VAT is charged, and the Daily Roaming Pass remains valid until the end of the 24-hour period.

If you move from Zone B to Zone A, the Daily Roaming Pass remains active until the end of the 24-hour period at no extra cost.

We continue to protect our customers from unpleasant surprises when travelling abroad and therefore continue to block mobile data usage when this amount has reached €49.59 or €100 VAT incl.. To further protect you, the Daily Roaming Pass is included in this data usage limit. Therefore, it is possible that the Daily Roaming Pass will not be activated when this limit is reached. Please note that you can remove it in MyProximus.

You can use the Daily Roaming Pass in Zone A for a price of €4.92 per day in the following countries:

You can use the Daily Roaming Pass in Zone B for a price of €9.88 per day in the following countries:

All roaming charges are covered when you travel in Europe, so you don't need a Daily Roaming Pass in the following countries:

Any questions about roaming?

When roaming services are available in a foreign country, the quality of service offered may differ from that offered in Belgium due to various local factors related to the technologies available in that country such as whether they use latest technology, local network coverage, available speed, latency but also other external local factors such as topography and more.

Would you like to know which technologies are available in the country you are visting? You can consult the list of technologies available in each country of the European Union (+ Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) for each operator with which Proximus has concluded a roaming agreement. This indicative list is subject to errors and changes. It is regularly updated based on the information provided to Proximus by foreign operators.

The name of the network selected for roaming may be displayed on your screen under a different trade name, chosen by the foreign operator, regardless of Proximus' wishes. In addition, for the reasons explained above (such as network coverage or topography), some technologies may not be available throughout the territory visited.

Roaming users may not be able to call or text local Value Added Service numbers and certain Belgian TV content via Pickx may not be available when roaming outside the EU. It is also possible that applications or content available to local users may not be available to roaming users for technical or legal reasons.

When roaming, you can monitor your internet usage at any time

  • by sending the word DATA by SMS to 8888: information about the amount of your consumption outside the package while abroad will be sent to you by SMS (sending and receiving free of charge).
  • by accessing the MyProximus app (using the app consumes data that is deducted from any mobile internet plan or billed if the customer does not have a mobile internet plan or if their plan is exceeded).

Phone calls and data connections made in non-terrestrial areas (e.g. from a ship during a cruise or from a plane) use satellite networks corresponding to another geographical area and are considered to be outside the European Union. The national rate doesn’t apply to this usage and roaming charges will be billed for these communications.
A connection to non-terrestrial networks, sometimes inadvertently, can increase your bill. To avoid this, it is best to:

  • completely block calls, texts and Internet connections via these non-terrestrial networks:
    • enable the aeroplane mode on your device via the settings
    • or ask for roaming outside the European Union to be disabled (opt-out) free of charge via the MyProximus app or by calling 6060 in order to block the connection to these networks while keeping the possibility of roaming within the European Union
  • block only the Internet connection via these non-terrestrial networks: ask to disable (opt-out) of the Internet connection in non-terrestrial zones. In this case, you keep the possibility of calling and sending texts via non-terrestrial networks at non-EU rates and the possibility of roaming within the European Union. To block only your Internet connection on non-European networks, follow the steps via this link

You can avoid connecting to foreign networks via your device settings:

  • either by deactivating the automatic selection of the network operator and manually selecting Proximus
  • or by removing roaming

In order to avoid high bills, your mobile Internet connection abroad will be blocked if your data consumption abroad goes 60 EUR (incl. VAT) above the bundle.

If you wish to continue surfing, you can request to remove this limit at your own responsibility. If so, your mobile Internet connection will be blocked again if the usage reaches EUR 121 (incl. VAT), unless you decide to remove this second limit too. If so, you continue to surf without limit at your own responsibility.

You can change this setting at any time.

Value Added Service (VAS) numbers are e.g. premium-rate numbers, freephone numbers or shared cost numbers you can call and/or text to receive access to services like gaming, matchmaking, content editing, information such as the weather forecast , doctors on call, etc.

When you travel outside Belgium (roaming) and you call or text to any VAS number (local, Belgian, EU or non-EU):

  • your national tariff is not applicable
  • the tariff advertised for local users is not applicable
  • higher charges could apply, also for services advertised in the visited country as freephone numbers (these are only free for local users and not for roamers).

VAS numbering ranges vary from country to country. To avoid bad surprise on the bill, you can verify which VAS numbering ranges are subject to increased costs by clicking on https://legalinfo.proximus.be/en/vas The info is available per EU country (including Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway) but is unfortunately not available for the other countries.

In the interests of transparency, when you enter a foreign country, you will receive a text with information on the applicable tariffs for mobile communications in that country, including mobile Internet use. If you do not wish to receive text messages about tariffs, you can request to deactivate this service by calling 6060. You can change this setting at any time.
If the country you are visiting is one of the other 26 EU countries, you will also receive a text informing you of the ways to contact the emergency services in the country you are visiting. For security reasons, you cannot request to deactivate this service and we recommend you save this text message.

Access to the web pages (whether free or paid) is only possible if you or your administrator have not activated a barring on the use of the mobile internet connection ("data barring" or configuration by your company). Consult your company's internal policy. If such a barring has been implemented by yourself, at your request or at the initiative of your administrator, you will have access to these pages but only in WI-FI.

In case of emergency, Proximus recommends to call free of charge the unique European emergency call number 112. This call number is available from any EU country including Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway for local users but also for roamers.

Public warning mobile applications are mobile applications that can be downloaded by the user on his smartphone in some countries in order to receive public warnings in case of imminent or developing major emergencies and disasters in the visited country.

The following provisions apply insofar as they are not expressly contrary to the specific provisions applicable to the services:

  • Prices include VAT.
  • Calls are billed by the second starting from the 61st second.
  • Mobile Internet is billed by increments of 1 KB.
  • Rates for calling minutes, texts, and MB depend on the country zone in which the customer is roaming:

Daily Travel Passport

  • This option is only available for prepaid customers. You only pay per actual day of use. The daily price from €5 is activated as soon as you make a call, send a text message to a country of this zone, from the European Union or to Belgium, use more than 200 KB of mobile data or receive a call in the Zone A.
  • A day of use starts and ends at midnight, Belgian time. Unused minutes, texts and MB are not carried over to the next day.
  • The calls are debited per second starting from the 1st second.
  • Within the bundle, data volume is billed by increments of 100 KB, as from 200 KB of usage. For usage under 200 KB, and once the volume included in the option has been used up, the standard rate will apply.
  • No subscription fee.
  • Pay&Go customers must have at least €1.50 of credit on their card to be able to call from abroad.

Controlling your budget when you’re abroad is not always easy. To help its customers, Proximus has developed roaming offers that respond to this need. However, these offers may differ, depending on the country you are in. Proximus therefore uses and keeps the data of the country you are visiting for 60 days, to keep you better informed.
