“We inhabit two worlds,” says Marc Veldeman, CEO of the Veldeman Group. “On the one hand, a lot of craftsmanship goes into the manufacturing of our products. On the other hand, we also make full use of modern technology.” Veldeman now produces its sleeping comfort solutions at seven sites in three countries.
“All the plants are connected with Proximus Explore,” explains Tom Van den Bossche, ICT Manager at Veldeman Group. “In addition, we use Microsoft Office 365. That way, we respond to our staff’s needs in terms of flexibility and mobility. When we bring in digitalization, we always pay particular attention to the human aspect. That is the guiding thread through our corporate policy.”

New technology also pervades the products at Veldeman. At the end of the day, IoT applications can be put to good use in the world of sleep.
At first glance, an app on your smartphone that you can use to adjust your electric bed may seem nothing more than a fun gadget. “But ultimately, it has other advantages too,” says Van den Bossche. “The manual operating systems contain a lot of metal and plastic. If we can do away with all that, it also benefits the environment.”
Veldeman Group is a Belgian family business that produces high-quality sleep systems. The Opglabbeek-based company has 550 staff at seven production sites and records a turnover of € 106 million.
