Van Der Bauwhede has been building verandas since 1923. According to spokesman Kurt Vandenbroeke, a steady stream of expansions led to the company’s buildings being scattered geographically. Not ideal, because the company has to be able to respond promptly to building-site situations at any time.
“You can’t just keep buying up buildings in the same street. So we went in search of a solution for telephone, data transmission and video surveillance from a single base for our three operating units. The existing set-up was a Forum 500 exchange with wireless DECT telephones. As excavation was not possible on the private plots of land in between, we opted for cover based on two radio links. All communication between the three units now takes place uninterruptedly and optimally via the same concept: putting through phone calls, mobile data and the surveillance images.”
For the implementation they played it safe. Business manager Willy Nolf: “Eventually the project took a year, mainly because we had to do a lot of preparatory work ourselves, take detailed measurements and analyze a great deal. A flexible attitude was essential, but we are particularly satisfied with the end-result.”
