ISPPC to renovate its storage infrastructure

ISPPC has awarded a large-scale contract to Proximus, in partnership with NetApp. This is a major investment for the intermunicipal public health company of Charleroi.

The project consists of two new NetApp MetroClusters, including a Full Flash SAN of 200 TiB and a NAS of 350 TiB, installed on two sites of the ISPPC, with a view to offering a high level of availability and optimal load balancing. In addition, a backup system will be installed on a third site of this major health care player of the Charleroi region.

The intermunicipal company groups together the academic hospital of Charleroi, public hospitals, private general hospitals, retirement homes, crèches and youth assistance centers. "More precisely, the new contract also includes infrastructure management and support for a three-year period. All this makes it the largest NetApp project in the Walloon health care sector", according to Raymond Pierre, Account Manager at NetApp BeLux. "Thanks to NetApp and its Data Fabric, the ISPPC will have a new-generation data center at its disposal and will be able to manage, provide and store the data of its patients very efficiently in order to improve patient care, optimize the exchange of health data and speed up the diagnostic and treatment process", added Raymond Pierre.

This new contract is part of the complete replacement of the ISPPC's storage and archive infrastructure, which was previously managed by a different provider. "A hospital infrastructure of this kind represents a major challenge. It should be pointed out that our policy puts the patient at the heart of the hospital", said Jean-Pierre Binon, ICT Director at the ISPPC. This storage platform will improve not only the work of our employees, the care staff and our services, but will also serve as a digital platform which will provide the opportunity to offer other services in the future, such as medical connected objects, patient monitoring and the exchange of data.

"Our technology allows us to evolve towards real-time medicine: improve day-to-day data management, know where connected objects are and, especially, simplify their usage", explained Frédéric De Wallens, Account Executive at Proximus. "Our watchword will be transversal collaboration across the medical file and other services, all of which will be made available to our staff", continued Mr. Jean-Pierre Binon. "Above all, we need a future-oriented solution, because in the long run the challenges for our intermunicipal company will be significant", he concluded.

With the combined strength of NetApp Data Fabric and the professional services of Proximus, you can benefit from a next-generation data center that is truly business-class.
