Lockdown made Euro-Locks opt for the speed of fiber
Published on 07/02/2023 in Customer talks
The lockdown caught an international company like Euro-Locks off guard. No longer was the speed offered by VDSL sufficient. The choice for fiber was quickly made.
"The south of the country will never be well covered by telecommunications networks," insists sales manager Antonio Alfonso. "In fact, our VDSL connection had already become inadequate and the lockdown during the pandemic made that much more obvious. We made backups once a week. If that failed, we lost at least four days of data. During the lockdown, we were also never able to get everything out of Microsoft Teams and were constantly hitting the limits of our connection."
Cloud requires fiber
Euro-Locks manufactures locking systems for companies around the world. "Video meetings with customers from France, Britain or the United States, for example, regularly had interruptions, especially when we held several meetings at the same time. We work with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and telephony in the cloud. So in fact, the switch to fiber speed did not take long."
We had fiber installed because the speed of our VDSL connection was no longer enough. We regularly lost data and we could not run video meetings properly.

Customer service completely online via intranet system
"Fiber has allowed us to improve our internal processes," Antonio Alfonso continues. That means that we can give our customers a much better service. They can now manage their accounts and orders, for example, and reach us easily via our intranet. Fiber also allows us to prepare for the future already. Economic and social developments mean that we will have to maintain relationships with our customers entirely at a distance. We can now do that thanks to technology like fiber and we can fully tailor our services to our customers' needs."
From its facilities in Bastogne, Euro-Locks produces mechanical and electronic locking systems for industrial applications and other manufacturers.
