City of Antwerp launches smart route planner
Published on 28/11/2016 in News
Since the end of September, the city of Antwerp has had its own route planner. Residents and commuters can now take the smart road to Antwerp. The route planner takes account of road works and detours. This is a first version that will become multimodal in 2017.
The smart way to Antwerp
The route planner fits in perfectly with the Slim naar Antwerpen project, which the city set up in collaboration with partners such as the Flemish government, De Lijn public transport company, BAM and the Belgian Railways to make it easier to cope with the disruption caused by major works like the Oosterweel connection. What is more, projects like this are designed to reduce rush-hour traffic by 10,000 cars. Using the route planner, you can work out which means of transport will guide you through Antwerp the quickest or the smartest way. In addition, real-time traffic situations are always displayed, including on secondary roads.
