For smoother cooperation between emergency and public safety
The sixth Astrid User Days event, the fair and meeting place for emergency and public safety, is to be held in Sint-Truiden in early October. Communication and other specialists will be sharing their knowledge through workshops and interdisciplinary gatherings. In the Innovation Corner, leading international speakers are to give their view of the relationship between technology and society. Proximus, along with Airbus, is the official main sponsor of the event and will therefore have a prominent presence there on both days.

Proximus has been allocated four slots in the workshop programme, when additional light is to be shed on the subjects of safety and mobility in particular. In a workshop on cyber security, Christophe Crous, Head of Security at Proximus, will look at the latest threats and potential security solutions. A survey in understandable language, for non-specialists, too.

With a reference to smart cities, Reinout Genbrugge, Solution Sales Executive, will consider the issue of safe cities. How does the use of ANPR and new data visualization techniques benefit safety and mobility in our towns and cities? You will learn the answer in a fascinating workshop on the latest technologies.

The development of the Proximus network will be explained by Bernard Dugauquier, Marketing Expert. He is to talk in particular about the emergence of new transmission technologies and optical fiber networks. What developments can be expected in the next few years? Is 4G giving way to 5G? You will find out all about it in an accessible presentation.

Finally, Stefania Cappiello and Glen Festraets, Product & Solutions Specialists, are to look at the usefulness of measuring data in the context of safety at large gatherings. Measurement is the key to knowledge and big data is worth its weight in gold.
