Lower the energy consumption of your decoder

How to lower the energy consumption of your decoder? Put your decoder in standby when you are not watching TV by pressing the on-off key of your remote control.

You can lower your energy consumption even more by configuring the standy mode on your decoder:

  1. Configure your decoder so that it switches automatically to standby after a certain period (between 1 and 9 hours). The decoder will switch to standby if you do take no action during a certain period.
    1. Press the menu key and select:
      • in French: menu > paramètres > systèm > mode veille > veille (or mon compte > paramètres > réglages de mode veille, depending on your TV menu).
      • in Dutch: menu > instellingen > systeem > sluimerstand > sluimerstand (or mijn account > instellingen > tijdsinterval voor sluimerstand, depending on your TV menu).

We advise you to choose a 4-hour delay. Just before the decoder switches to standby mode, you will see a warning on your TV screen: you will then have the choice to activate or not the standby mode.

    2. To watch TV again, simply press the on-off key.
    3. What happens with your recording? The decoder will automatically leave the hibernation mode to start a planned recording.
  2. Configure your decoder so that it switches automatically to hibernation mode after 30 minutes in standby mode.
This is not possible if you have the new TV menu that starts with ma bibliothèque , télévision and shop (if your TV menu is in French) or mijn bibliotheek, televisie and shop (if your TV menu is in Dutch).
    1. Press the menu key and select mon compte > paramètres > réglages de mode veille > mode veille (if your menu is in French) or mijn account > instellingen > instellingen sluimerstand > sluimerstand (if your menu is in Dutch). You can choose between normal (or normaal, which stands for normal standby) and veille profonde (or diepe slaap, which stands for hibernation).
    2. To watch TV again, simply press the on-off key. Wait roughly 2 minutes to watch television or navigate in the menu.
    3. What happens with your recording? The decoder will automatically leave the hibernation mode to start a planned recording on the decoder hard drive.
